After 35 years in newsrooms, Dawndy Mercer Plank has left the television anchor desk but continues to tell important stories as a spokesperson for several South Carolina companies through commercials, corporate videos, and social media. Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, she spent part of her television career in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Houston, Texas, but the majority has been in South Carolina, the state that won her heart. A frequent speaker and emcee throughout the state, particularly in churches, she leads a Bible study for USC girls and advocates for exercise and plant-based eating. Married to Craig Plank—the man she says "hung the moon in her world"—and mother to three children, Dawndy considers horses to be God's greatest gift to her next to her family.
